Now that it is Back to School time, I thought I would make a little teacher gift I make every year. It is a box designed like a book that you can put a small gift or gift card in. This is super easy with the new Mambi Sheets!
What you need to get started:
- Paper mache book box (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
- Mambi Sheets Paper
- Coordinating cardstock or construction paper
- Glue dots or glue
- Dollar Spot Library card bookmark ( You could print a blank library from Google)
- Bazzill envelope (You can make this with paper)
First I covered the outside of the book with the Mambi paper. How perfect is this eyeglass print?!?! The paper is the thickness of quality gift wrap, so it was really easy to work with. I used glue dots to hold it in place. I also used a ruler and fine tip pen to draw “pages” on the book. In the past I have painted this gold, but wanted to try something a little different this time.
Next I measured solid paper to be the binding and glued it down. Mine was 5.5 in. x 8.5 in. This gives it more of a book appearance.
I was so excited when I saw that Target’s Dollar spot had library cards! In the past I have used a library card stamp, but you could easily print one like this-blank library card . I simple wrote the teacher’s name, year and “Thanks to you is” and on the envelope stamped DUE. In the Author section of the card I have my kiddo write his name. I finish off with ribbon and it’s done! What is great is they can use the box over again for storage or decoration.
